They are passionate about lacrosse and are committed to attending every practice and every tournament. To guarantee a tryout spot, players must register at www.patriotlax.com. Walk-in registrations are on a first come first serve basis and cannot be guaranteed a tryout as we limit the number of players per grade trying out.
A:One team for grades 4th-11th for Patriot STARS and one team for Patriot ELITE, each consisting of approximately 22 players per team (2 attack lines, 3 middie lines, 2 defense lines, and 2 goalies). Older teams may have additional specialty players (ie face-off, LSM).
Q: How will my son know if he made the callback tryout? How will he know if he made the team?
A:All players registered will receive an email listing callbacks and players selected.
Q: What if my son does not make the team?
A:The reality is everyone cannot make the team. If you do not make one of our teams in a particular season, you are still eligible and encouraged to try out in following years. In addition, Patriot Lacrosse provides clinics, small group and private lessons throughout Northern New Jersey and the tri-state areas. If your son is serious about developing his skill level, we encourage him to enroll in clinics or lessons and to try out for next year's team.
Q: If I am a Patriot ELITE player or current NJLA player do I have a spot next year?
A:No. Open tryouts occur every year.
Q: What is the travel team fee?
A:The player fee includes off-season training sessions, and everything needed to participate in the season – uniform package, coaching staff, field rentals, practice supplies, insurance, tournament fees, helmet decals, bumper stickers, and College Recruiting Services. (We do not require players to purchase any new gear, helmets, or bags.) Not included in the fee is transportation, lodging, food, and camp tuition if applicable.
Q: How much is the College Recruiting Program?
A:For high school players, we include our recruiting services at no additional cost. We include SportsRecruits Account, Hudl Account, a discount to AthletePrep, and most importantly an open door to consultations with our staff who have helped countless lacrosse players fulfill their dream of playing college lacrosse.
Q: What is the refund policy?
A:All fees are non-refundable. When you accept an invitation to a Patriot team you also accept the financial responsibility of the team fee. The team fees are established on the number of players we accept each season. Every player’s team fee goes toward the club expenses. Sadly, even in the event of an injury we still have relied on that player’s team fee in the budget. We have partnered with mycampprotector who will protect your investment for a small premium.
Q: How many tournaments will Patriot attend?
A:Both Patriot STARS and Patriot ELITE will attend four tournaments. The high school teams may attend one team camp where an additional fee is incurred.
Q: What commitment is required to play for the Patriot STARS or Patriot ELITE travel club team?
A:Recommended off-season training focusing on core skill and lacrosse IQ development, and mandatory June-July practices and tournaments.
Q: My son plays for a town/rec team; does Patriot Lacrosse interfere with his season or other fall/winter sports?
A:The best athletes are multi-sport athletes. Patriot Lacrosse encourages players to participate in multiple sports; lacrosse training dates are scheduled to allow players to train off-season while avoiding conflicts with other sports and rec/town team participation.
Q: Can I play for more than one club program?
A:Absolutely not, all players committed to Patriot Lacrosse are required to attend all practices and tournaments; participation in other programs can result in conflicts.
